Its strength is commercial complexity
PrestaShop ships ready for what a wholesaler actually needs: customer groups with their own pricing, minimum quantities, volume discounts, per-country tax handling and multi-language catalogues without duplicating the store.
The trade-off is that it demands more maintenance than Shopify. It’s worth it when that commercial complexity genuinely exists; if you sell fifty products to consumers, there are almost certainly simpler options.

I’m on an old PrestaShop version — should I upgrade?
Old versions accumulate security issues and lose module support, so generally yes. The upgrade isn’t trivial when custom modules are involved, which is why we audit first to see what migrates and what needs rebuilding.
Is PrestaShop slow?
It can be with large catalogues on an undersized server, but it is optimisable. Before writing a store off we measure where the bottleneck is: often it’s hosting or one specific module, not the platform.
